In the heart of Western Australias Pilbara region, you can discover a journey through earth’s natural history. Carved over two billion years.
From coral bay we travelled over 400 km inland to the Pilbara region. Red dirt land!
This was one place on my wish list to visit. Paddling through crystal clear water, descending into ancient gorges, swimming beneath waterfalls. This national park is a magical place.
Karijini National Park, offers a great range of Walks, with beautiful scenery. Its the second largest National park in WA and one of the best outback experiences. 4WD is recommended to visit all the sites. We spent around 4 days in this area. Entering the park incurs a $12 fee but contains rewarding attractions. Dales Gorge, Fortescue falls, Weano Gorge and Oxers lookout are spots which arent to be missed.

We decided to camp just on the outskirts of the park at free camp spots, which are located on Wiki camps.
However there are several options for accommodation, the Eco Retreat situated in the heart of the park and walking distance to Joffre Gorge. Or Dales Gorge camp site close to the waterfalls.
We filled our days exploring through the gorges and swimming in the pools. It was truly incredible. With very little people it was so peaceful and gave you the feeling you were truly in the wilderness.
After a lovely time spend in this area, we continued our journey along the Great Northen Highway towards the coast again.N
